Newest Update

Journal entry by Nicholas Thomas

Day 12 in ICU.

I haven’t posted an update in 3 days… I feel like I left you all hanging and I apologize. Thank you for the continuous prayers for my sweet sweet mother. Everyday is better day and she has had a lot of improvement over this week.

CT scan update:
Edema is going down which is such a good thing, they finally have her off of all iv drips, and they removed the central line!!! 🙌🏽

As to what the next step is for her we still don’t know. Her brain is still going to take some time to heal. We will have to wait for the swelling to completely go down before we really know what her new normal will be. She complains of being dizzy, and explains that she feels like her brain is swimming. She’s still very alert, still has her pretty handwriting, knows what she wants, and speech therapy has advanced her diet to pretty much anything with small bites and sips in between!!!!

She has gotten out of bed the last three days with OT and Physical therapy. No big steps yet with that left side but she finally has her balance back a little. Going outside yesterday made her so HAPPY she begged all day today to go back outside. We did get her in a recliner the last 3 days too and she spends all day there till we leave her at 8 then they get her back into bed.

It’s the little milestones that seem so big that our making the days better. Little by little we are still trucking along on this long journey. My mom is so strong but she does have her moments of doubt in herself and she does get emotional about what’s happen.

Praying for:
Complete healing on that left side
Peace of mind
Dizziness to go away
STRENGTH

Thank you all for praying for Melissa we feel every prayer and all the love!!!

With Love,
Nick ❤️‍🩹
