Journal entry by Melissa Rogers —
This past week has been a stressful one. I experienced numerous nose bleeds and excruciating headaches. I visited the doctor and my INR level was 5 times the normal level, meaning my blood was dangerously thin. My blood thinner was held for a few days to return this back to normal. The headaches appear to be a result of the high dose steroids that I am currently on. My round, swollen face is also steroid related. Another X-ray was done of my chest. Last month the doctors attributed my coughing episodes and shortness of breath to radiation pneumonitis. Now they believe otherwise. I see the doctor on Tuesday to discuss results and see if I want to move forward with preventative brain radiation. The X-ray from this week also showed mild Cardiomegaly from my heart having to work harder due to my lungs. My morphine was increased to 3 times a day to keep the pain under control. I will update again Tuesday after I’ve seen the doctor. Thank you again to all of you who continue to send your well wishes! They are of great comfort to me.
