Journal entry by Melissa Thacker Mabe —
Exactly one year ago, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer.
I took my 2nd chemo treatment on Wednesday. My blood work taken on Wednesday showed extremely high levels concerning my liver. Long story short, I have at least 20 masses in my liver. The masses are pushing my liver out, which expands underneath my lungs, making my upper stomach hard and leaving me feeling exhausted and out of breath.
I also have a nodule in each lung. According to my bloodwork, the masses grew within 2 1-2 weeks, while I was taking chemo. I have more tests coming up this week, including a PET scan to see if the cancer is anywhere else.
It depends on how the biopsy tests rate the masses to determine the next course of action. It will either be immunotherapy + chemo or no other treatment.
Michael and I are praying about going to the MD Anderson Clinic in Texas. We will know more next week.
I did ask my Dr. about my lifespan. She said I probably wouldn’t make it to Christmas.
Please pray for our family; especially, Mechala and Matthew. This is devastating news to all of us (& my parents and Michael’s parents). I would prefer God heals me on this side of eternity, but if not, He is still good and He is still God!
