Newest Update

Journal entry by melisa kaiser

Hello Family and Friends!

If you are connected to my husband then you have received this update, but I thought it was time just in case.

The last two months have been very difficult with my lungs taking a downward turn. I have been coughing for several months but added to that was shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. I couldn't stay on my feet and could do virtually nothing for myself (enter hero husband). Eating and sleeping were almost impossible.

I started seeing a pulmonologist in Aug. who could see only inflammation in my lungs and airways and put me on a series of steroids and inhalers which did not offer much help. I had a troubling event in Jan. in which my airway was very constricted, and I asked to see a new pulmonologist. This one did a bronchoscopy, but after all the time waiting for the procedure and then the results (9 weeks in total) she could find nothing but inflammation. My oncologist finally said that in the absence of any other explanation it has to be cancer. So I started chemo (conventionally) two weeks ago. I also finally received an oxygen machine which has helped immensely.

Last week I had the CT scans that the pulmonologist ordered to look at my chest and neck. The radiologist noticed something on the neck scan and called me back for a scan of my head. This scan revealed several small to large tumors on my brain. They have not caused any negative effects yet, but the oncologist said eventually they will. We will discuss what to do about it in the coming weeks. For now Keelan has been staying with me. We recently purchased a hydrogen machine which is supposed to have significant effects against brain tumors.

Right now I am feeling more energized and less constricted breathing thanks to the oxygen. I am also able to be on my feet longer, which helps around the house. Thankfully I have a large family who participate regularly in home life :) I am also continuing supportive therapies at the integrative clinic.

We so appreciate your prayers, as God is completely sovereign over this circumstance. He is doing a good thing and we trust Him. Sometimes we don't like it but He knows what we need. His will is perfect and He always gives us Himself. I am posting the links to our Go Fund Me page and our Meal Train in case those are things you are interested in helping with. We are so thankful for you!
