Last week, I had my last cancer treatment.😃 (hopefully) After completing Chemo and Radiation, I continued with PERJETA (Pertuzumab/Trastuzumab Hyaluronidase) injections every 3 weeks until I completed one year. So - I have officially completed one year of treatment!!
I'm in remission, but I'm not done yet...
Next week, April17th, I'm having surgury to remove my ovaries.(oophorectomy) This was a decision I made because the type of cancer I had feeds on the hormones produced - so either be on hormone blockers for 10+ years - or get my ovaries removed. The biggest side effect is that I will immediately go into menopause....but honestly, I've been experiencing the same side effects from the meds and hormone blockers anyway - so I'd rather get it over with as opposed to hormone blockers and hot flashes for 10+ years.
After that surgery, I will be off all medications.!! This is amazing to me considering everything I've been on this past year.
In May, I will begin my clinical trial. I don't know a lot about it yet - but It's already in Stage 3, and this is a blind test. Hopefully this will result in a vaccine for HER+ Breast Cancer. I am the Anti - anti-vaxxer. I don't really like shots and needles, but I do like science and progress - so I'm proud to be a part of the study. :)
The last step of my cancer journey is my reconstuctive surgery. I have an appointment in May and will most likely schedule the surgery for sometime this summer.
Thank you to everybody who has been following and praying/thinking about me. It truely means a lot to me.
