Newest Update

Journal entry by Megan Saben

EDITED TO ADD:
  • The surgery is scheduled for 8am on Monday.
  • According to Dad, Mom appears in every way healthier than she was before her first hospital visit! They asked if having a colonoscopy sooner could have avoided the initial problem, and the surgeon said no. This gave Mom more peace and less regret.
  • Praise the Lord that after she distributed books during/after her initial visit, she now has a minor procedure to return to the same ward to share the gospel with the nurses again while everything is locked down and fear is high! The ten copies of Jesus Skeptic that were donated by friends are all gone. More are on the way.
Mom is back in the hospital due to unresolved blood clots that are sometimes "a bump in the road to recovery," according to the surgeon.

Her wry sense of humor is intact.

Kaylin: Mom, you have no idea how wonderful it is to hear the updates directly from you. That you're well enough to know what's going on and tell us.
Mom: Glad you are so happy...

It is a delight to enjoy her cheerful engagement in conversations about our various extended family quarantine activities, although it is sobering for her to realize what is necessary before she can go home and she cannot enjoy the onslaught of visitors who came before.

Best in her own words: The abscess hasn't drained much, so they are going to do surgery tomorrow. There's a clot that won't allow total drainage that has to be sucked out, I guess. It won't be as serious as the last procedures, of course, but I will be asleep. Signed, The Sparrow.*

More from Mom: I am grateful to the Lord that my body has been able to keep up with my need for new blood. As much as I got during surgery the last time, and with all the platelets afterward, and since I've been passing clots and bleeding for quite awhile, I am grateful that God has kept me healthy and improving. No little thing...

*Note her signature, taken from precious promises from God:
"His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me."
"Do not fear, therefore, you are worth more than many sparrows."

(More of her own thoughts on her previous experience may be read on this blog post.)

From Dad: On the day of surgery, they will let one visitor in. Pray there is no bleeding in the uterus that they have to cauterize, or they will have to open her incision again. After surgery day she will not be able to have visitors, so pray it goes well and she can be released quickly.

Thank you for all the prayers and encouraging words! We will keep you updated.
