Bishop recently had appointments with his eye specialists where they did an ultrasound of his left eye, as well as determined the procedure to help in the growth of this eye.
The ultrasound showed that he has a significant retinal coloboma, as well as a cyst behind his eye. Based on these things it is highly unlikely that he can see out of his left eye. That said, his right eye looks completely normal, which is a huge praise, as that is not often the case for children with coloboma in one eye!
Though there’s concern with him “not having a spare” (doctors words) if something was to happen to his right eye, she assured us that visually he will be just like anyone else due to not knowing any different.
Our prayer is that the development of his vision continues to be within the normal expectations, not just in his sight but in how he engages with the world around him.

Today Bishop had his follow-up appointment with his neurosurgery team to see if the surgery did what it was supposed to do. Based on a cranial ultrasound, our neurosurgeron says “everything looks good”, praise God! Bishop will have another check up in a month, but we’re praising God for good news today!! From what this ultrasound shows we’re hopeful this sets the trajectory for the continued success of the surgery in that shunts can be avoided.

God continues to show His faithfulness in and through Bishop! Praise Him.
