This is the 40th day since Megan's death. In many traditions, the 40th day marks the end of the time of mourning. We're ready to turn that corner.
I'll share one more picture of us––the last picture of us together. Vera took this during a visit to the zoo, two weeks before Megan died.
I know many people still want to be part of a memorial service for Megan. There is uncertainty in Minnesota (and everywhere) about when large gatherings will be safe again. So the plan is to look ahead to the fall, when hopefully we will be on the other side of the curve.
You can pencil into your calendars the afternoon of Sunday, October 4. Her birthday was October 1. Megan loved celebrating birthdays, so we'll use the occasion to celebrate her. The memorial service will be at Christ Chapel on the Gustavus campus, here in St. Peter. Of course, it will be full of music.
