McKinley’s Story

Site created on January 8, 2024

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Reid was diagnosed with Tricuspid Atresia early in McKinley's pregnancy.Tricuspid Atresia is a rare congenital heart defect.  It basically means Reid's heart has no functioning Tricuspid valve, which keeps the right side of his heart from moving blood properly.  Essentially, the right side of his heart will be bypassed completely in the next few years. We have been very blessed to have amazing resources from very early on during her pregnancy. We have an extremely knowledgeable team of Dr's and surgeons on board at Children's Hospital in New Orleans. With great thanks to Aunt Kim Ewing and her close friend Cinda Terral, who put McKinley and Tyler in contact with a renowned Pediatric Heart Specialist in Tennessee. He has been instrumental in Reid receiving the right treatment from the right team. We are forever grateful for this and for everyone of you that have been so supportive and praying for this amazing baby boy!

Newest Update

Journal entry by Courtney Ewing

Sorry for the delayed update on our sweet baby Reid's miraculous journey. McKinley and Tyler are being very cautious with anyone that comes around their little man, as he is more susceptible to all of the typical viruses and other other things floating around. It's crucial that Reid stay well on this journey...

With that being said, so many thanks to each and every one of you for your prayers and unwavering support and for walking with us on this journey...  REID IS HOME🙏🩵🙏!!!

He was discharged on the late afternoon of Tuesday, January 30th. Tyler proudly drove his family to their home in New Roads  and they have all been doing GREAT!!!

Reid has so much personality and he has absolutely stolen our hearts.   We can't wait for everyone to meet him, once he is cleared to be out and about.

Reid's next open-heart surgery (Glen procedure)  will be sometime between  3-6 months old.

Again, we couldn't have done this without each of you. We ask for your continued prayers, as we have been praying for manyblessings for our  prayer warriors, along the way! 🩵🙏🩵
