Journal entry by Melani Sailer —
On February 22, McDermott had his three month post chemo check. Super news all around. Not only is he cancer free, but Dr. McGarry was able to check in with McDermott’s 6 month post surgery right arm, great growth in his forearm and impressive dexterity of his digits. That too has been an amazing recovery.
Today Mc is having another milestone, his port is being removed. The same Doctor that placed it last year in March is also removing it-McDermott was asked if he’d like to keep the port, but he politely declined.
On Wednesday, March 17 it will have been an official year from the diagnosis of Ewing’s Sarcoma. I cannot believe how lucky and blessed our family has been. Amazing friends, family, doctors and nurses to help us get through a whirlwind of a year. Thanks to all of you for the prayers, positive thoughts, letters and notes of encouragement.
Humbled and Blessed by this miraculous year.
