Maya’s Story

Site created on April 21, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Maya has a single ventricle with pulmonary atresia. Maya has already had two stents placed. On May 19 she will have her first open heart surgery, the Glen. Dr. Feins is our surgeon and is absolutely amazing. Maya will need another procedure, the Fontan, at 2-3 years of age.

We have created this site for family and friends to find updates on the surgery and Maya’s condition.

Journal entry by Brianna Han

After all the follow up tests and labs, we’ve been cleared to go home!!!!! Maya truly is a warrior! Average hospital stay is 7-10 days. She had to show us (again) that she’s not average and we got discharged on day 6! We have to abide by sternal precautions until July 19 and need to remain in somewhat of a bubble until 4th of July, but we are beyond excited to be going home!

We cannot thank our friends and family enough for all of the support, love, well wishes, prayers, and positive vibes sent our way. It means the world to us. We haven’t crossed the finish line, but we’ve gotten over the toughest/scariest portion! Time for some much needed rest!
