Journal entry by Joseph Otterby

Today marks the day that We've been without Max for longer than he was here.  It still feels like yesterday though, and a day doesn't yet go by that I don't find myself crying that he's gone at least a couple of times.  I suspect that it will still be a long time before I get to the point that it stops happening.  Some things though are still very tough.  Going through sympathy cards, (we can only get through 1 or 2 before we have to stop for a while due to emotions, so they're taking a very long time) Going in  Max's Room, and sometimes just random things (like a scene in a movie) can be very hard to handle.

Still, life is feeling a little more normal each day.  Work, school for Scarlette, and the business of life do help with that.  Christmas, friends, family, and just keeping busy are very helpful in keeping spirits up.  We'll see what the coming weeks bring, and hopefully we can have a merry christmas.

Thanks again for all the love and support the last few weeks.  At times like these, family and friends are what you need to be able to lean on, and I'm really glad that we have all the support we do.
