Max’s Story

Site created on October 5, 2022

I decided to put all of Max's epilepsy updates on here instead of sending out emails all the time. I'll work on adding the story as I can.

Journal entry by Amy Cerny

The IVIG is a 3 day course, and today was day 2. Overall Max was better today. He had less clinical and subclinical seizures, but still had a decent amount in the early morning hours. They gave him benedryl as a precaution yesterday, and it knocked him out and threw off his sleep schedule, although not as bad as the day before. Tomorrow is the last day of the IVIG, and if he's good and stable he can come home. Once he's home we'll start the new drug, Lamictal, in addition to continuing the depakote and steroids. The plan is to wean off the depakote and steroids as we increase the Lamictal. It'll take ~3 months for the Lamictal to build up enough to see if it's effective. We'll be in contact with his epilepsy doctor to tweak meds and we'll bring him back in to get checked out in a month or so (I think).
