Journal entry by Bridgett Jones —
We apologize for not posting any updates in a while. We have had a lot going on. Maverick is still really struggling to breathe. His lungs aren’t improving as we had hoped. His medical team, J and I are deciding what to do next. His doctors want to do another round of steroids to try and help with his lungs and getting him down on the bubble cpap. But there are great risks with doing the steroids again, so they aren’t taking this decision lightly. There are a lot of pros and cons to the options that we have right now and it’s a very hard decision to decided which is the best for Maverick. On a better note, he was moved to a crib this week and he is weighing in at 5lbs 6oz!!! He is 15 and 3/4 inches long. He is still wearing preemie clothes but he has moved up in diaper size! He is now in newborn size diapers. He is still only about 10th percentile but that is an improvement! He is getting 45ml of breast milk through his feeding tube. He has had some emesis (vomiting) this past week that have been pretty scary and required medical attention. So they are watching that closely, otherwise he is doing good with the increased amounts. All things considered he is doing good but still has a very long and hard road ahead of him.
Thank you all for your prayers and support through all of this. We can’t tell you how much that means to us. Thank you!
