Matthew’s Story

Site created on November 8, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Last night Nov. 7th Matt got into an accident on his motorcycle. He is currently at North Memorial hospital in Robbinsdale.
Right now he is sedated and resting. He's got a brain bleed, swelling and some road rash. Docs are keeping him sedated another 24 hours then giving him another cat scan to see if the swelling and bleeding has gone down and hopefully avoid surgery. Per Carol's wished please don't tell the kids the whole story she wants to be able to talk to them herself.
We will keep you updated as soon as we know more.
please be patient with us and pray with us.
Thank you

Journal entry by JuliaGulia Startseva

Hey everyone Julia here with an update on Matty.
He has had a pretty tough week.. No changes most of the week.
Docs kept taking him off the propofol trying to get him to react to voice and touch and he wasn't having it.  He also still had not been able to breath on his own, so they decided to do a tracheotomy. Which helped alot!
He was taken off sedation and FINALLY reacted to the nurse and followed her with his eyes where as before he wouldn't react at all!
In the next few days he will be moved to Bethesda in St. paul for his continued care, not needing the ICU anymore this place will help with his continued recovery.
THANK YOU for you all continued prayers and helping Carol, Matt and family through this tough time.
Keep praying! Matty you're doing awesome!!!
Thanks,
Julia
