“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage: do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9
Although Matthew is noticeably tired, he doesn’t want to be fussed over. And all the mothers in the room voted for a large bag of fluids—he said he didn’t care, but he knows we do—we all do! So he conceded to our request. After all, this bag takes just as long as the small bag and is better for the kidneys.
The oncology nurses are amazing! And today, Nurse Mary found a bouncy vein (she says everyone has their own technique) and she and Matt won on the first stick! It’s not his favorite spot—remember, Matt uses his hands to communicate, too, and with an IV placed, there is less talking with the hands. In fact he won’t move the hand. He’s still. And calm. Strong. Steady.
3 more of these days… the 5-day week concludes tomorrow and then the final two weeks on Tuesdays. Matthew is finishing strong and he will see it through. We are praying him through, Amen? Amen!
I think he’s glad his parents are back. He said I did alright and that I wasn’t going to be “graded”—“Well, pass/fail then,” I asked? And he smiled that beautiful smile of his. Pretty sure that this Auntie passed with flying colors, we also know there’s no one quite like Mom 😊
Bloodwork and a CT scan on his birthday… you all know what to do, so be sure and do it!
A $25 donation to CaringBridge powers a site like Matthew's for two weeks. Will you make a gift to help ensure that this site stays online for them and for you?
