Matthew’s Story

Site created on August 22, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place after Matthew's accident while working on his bike.  We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement and prayer. Thank you for visiting. (Please keep in mind, all donations through this page go to support Caring Bridge, not the family.  The family is NOT asking for donations at this point.)

This page is being created to help the Greenlee family. They wanted to be able to have one place to communicate with family and friends, and keep everyone updated on Matthew's situation. My name is Katherine Heidelman, I am a friend of the family and am helping manage the site. Matthew Greenlee was in a serious accident late Tuesday afternoon (just before 3 pm) while at college in Flagstaff, AZ. He was working on his bike when a pressurized rod shot out, penetrating his right eye and into his brain. He lost feeling in his left hand, and although he was conscious, there was an immediate brain bleed and his eye was shattered. Matthew received anointing of the sick at approximately 8:00 pm PAC and was admitted into ICU. They currently don't have any additional information about his status or prognosis. The family is holding on to the fact that Matthew is alive. Prayers from our mighty faithful friends are much appreciated. Matthew's soul is good with God. He has a deep faith as does the entire Greenlee family. The family knows that the the Lord is holding Matthew as well as the whole family in the palm of His hand. The Greenlee's are on their way to Flagstaff now. They are overwhelmed with texts and want to be able to keep everyone updated as they receive news. The hospital staff has arranged for a hotel for the family once they arrive in  Flagstaff. They will be staying at Taylor's House moving forward. The family is so grateful that Matthew's friends were allowed to visit Matthew in ICU tonight. His best friend, Lucas Demogines was able to hold the phone to Matthews ear so he could hear his family tell him how loved he is. As Lianne said, Small Graces. We will use this site to keep everyone updated. For now, the family is asking for prayers. Lord, we ask for your blessing upon Matthew, his Doctor and nursing staff. Lord, pour your blessings upon the Greenlee family and keep them safe as they travel to Flagstaff to join Matthew and to care for him. We also ask that you bring Peace that only you can Lord, and blessings for Matthews friends who are holding vigil. We ask that your will be done, God. We ask all of this in your name. Amen

Hello friends and family! I pray that this message finds everyone as well as possible. I am sending out a reminder to anyone who would like to contribute to the memorial book for the Greenlees with memories of Matthew. We would like to get this printed before the holidays. I have attached the link again for you to reference.

I hold everyone in my prayers.
