TODAY IS THE DAY! HOORAY!! 🎉🎉🎉

All day Aaron and I have been anticipating the time when we get to bring our baby home! Whoop whoop! It’s so strange to think he’ll be living with us tonight in our environment. I can’t wait to see what he thinks and how he reacts to his room! Aaron has been telling him everyday how much he’ll like it. We’ll see! 🤞🏼🤞🏼

We were able to pick him up during our normal “visit” time around 5:00pm and it was time to eat and go home! They let Dad park in the extra special spot right outside the door and they wheeled our guy out to the car in his bed! It was like a special limo ride to the car! We got him in his car seat Aaron has been studying, and after some readjustments, we were on our way!

It was amazing to see his reaction to the car. Y’all he just stared out the window. He had never seen outside before and he was taking it all in. 🤣🙌🏼🙌🏼. We were able to pick up dinner and get right to trying to establish a routine at home that also stayed true to the schedule the hospital had already put in place. We did our normal feeding, took a bath, and got our jammies on. He ate again at 9 (on schedule) and went to sleep at 10. 🎉🎉 So far so good. We are so thankful for everyone at the hospital that took care of our boy along the way and got him in a good routine. We had planned to put him in a bassinet at night for sleep, but since he was used to sleeping in a bed, we tried it. Success! We have a boy sleeping in his own  room night 1! Aaron has devoted himself to night shift and I take the days so he can work hard for us. Praying we can keep a good schedule and he (maybe) cooperates and helps us along the way. Avoiding Hangry Howie is a round the clock endeavor!

This journey has been a ride, but it’s our journey and our special story. There’s nothing like having him home exactly 3 weeks from delivery knowing how far we’ve come in such a short time. We have had so much quality family time in “NICU Fish 32” but nothing compares to the feeling we had all sitting together at home tonight.

We cannot express to you how much we appreciate every thought, prayer, donation, message, encouraging word and overall well wishes. We would NOT be here at home with A NORMAL CHILD without them. You guys are the best and we love you the most. ❤️❤️
