Matt’s Story

Site created on February 28, 2020

In October 2019 Matt was diagnosed with end stage liver disease.  He is need of a life saving liver transplant and his prognosis without it is very short.  Matt is fighting his fight while he waits to get added to the transplant list.  Currently, his body is not processing fluids properly so twice a week he is being seen to get fluid removed from his abdomen; an exhaustive process, but needed in order for him to stay mobile and as healthy as possible.  His daily life is about proper nutrition and building up strength in preparation for a transplant.

It has been difficult to keep everyone up-to-date on what's happening so we are hoping this CaringBridge site helps keep friends and family in the loop as Matt continues his journey.  Please know we so appreciate all the love and support that has been received thus far...the visits, words of encouragement, and all the prayers...we are truly grateful!

Journal entry by Susan Donat

Good Sunday Morning! Matt is continuing to gain strength, working hard with positivity toward good health and home! Saturday morning was exciting for us as he awoke to having feet, legs and knees! His edema drastically improved and fluids are moving in the right direction....out! So much more comfortable and easier to motivate around!
Uncle Butch and Aunt Maxine came for a visit yesterday! Was good to catch up and good to see familiar faces!
Since the last post it has been quiet, which, I’m grateful for....means all is going well!
Thank you for continued prayers, support, thoughts and love!!! We love you!!!
