Mathew’s Story

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Hello all. As Matt enters into this battle with cancer, our bills are piling up. Matt is the main source of income for our family as I am unable to work due to my own severe progressive pain condition.
As his treatment progresses, his paychecks will become much smaller. His treatment will also be very expensive and we do not yet know how long it will last. Each treatment is extremely costly, as are his monthly medications, which help him to keep his pain at a moderate level.
He had emergency surgery to remove the tumor on 11/16. This procedure was not pre-approved by insurance since it was an emergency to remove his tumor. As of right now, we do not know if it will be covered at all. The surgery went as expected, but now he has extra pain and lots of restrictions as far as the healing process.
This cancer is very fast growing and quickly spreading, especially along his aortic lymph nodes.
He also tested positive for COVID-19 on 11/14. His immune system is very weakened by the cancer. Hopefully he will have a quick and safe recovery.
We will continue to do what we can and to keep you informed by posting on here. We’re asking for not only monetary donations(though they are more important than ever at this time), but also for positive thoughts, prayers, and love sent to us in this, our time of need.

GoFundMe does take quite a percentage of each donation, though we still ABSOLUTELY appreciate ANY help at this time of need!!!

I have been able to spend the last few days with my brother Mathew Segreto . I took him to chemo and to the healing center, and even drove him around just to get out and about. If you haven’t really been through this, you can’t begin to even understand. I hate seeing my brother so sick. I can’t even imagine how he actually feels. Cancer is a bitch but the treatment is much worse. Brother, you are stronger than you know and even though it may not feel like it at this very moment, you are kicking cancer’s ass! One more treatment week left in February then more scans! Keep doing what you’re doing! I’m proud of you! icole Taylor wrote:
