Newest Update

Journal entry by Andrea Fisher

Thank you all for your support of Mary and our family through prayer, cards, home-cooked meals, restaurant gift cards, and more. We are so blessed by the love that you all have shown!

Mary is two weeks out from her first round of chemo and overall has been doing well, despite some side effects that have come and gone. We are very thankful that she hasn't experienced some of the most extreme side effects that can come with chemo. Thanks to an innovative cooling cap, she has kept all of her hair so far!

We (Andrea and Ben) were able to come over for a visit last weekend. It was great to spend time with my parents even though it looked a bit different this time around with staying in, distancing, and wearing masks as much as possible.

Surgery Update:
Last Thursday, Mary had a biopsy for a couple of spots outside of the original tumor that were found during a breast MRI. We got those results yesterday, and they did find cancer cells in those spots. Due to the more aggressive nature of her cancer, this didn't come as too much of a surprise. Around March next year, after chemo, Mary will have a mastectomy as well as removal of several lymph nodes in one surgery. We are thankful that she'll have some time before another surgery and that it won't happen before the holidays, which was one of her concerns. She has had an incredible care team at OSU that have gone above and beyond, so we know she is in great hands for that surgery when it comes.

Mary's next round of chemo (round 2 of 6) will be next Tuesday, Nov. 10.

  • Pray that Mary stays healthy over the next few months while she undergoes chemo
  • Continue to pray for encouragement and strength, against side effects, and that the chemo will fully do its work.
  • Pray for Bill as he serves as a caregiver and supporter - pray for his encouragement, strength, and health as well
