Journal entry by Mary Vigdor

Was a bit shocked this morning when, on my way to a thoracentesis, my neighbor Wanda said I looked alive again.  Did not realize I'd been looking so badly.  Dr. Gorden, the pulmonologist, was happy to report later that my lung expansion last week would continue as every time his drained a liter there was less remaining in the lung.  And, sure enough, I could feel my lung expand after the procedure today.  There remain two infusions of Keytruda, carboplatin and pemetrexed on June 24 and July 15.  Soon after they will do scans (not sure which) to see the results.  It is wonderful to feel able to breathe well again, play Scrabble, and now every Wednesday have lunch at the Greenwood Senior Center.  The week after each treatment has been a bit rough (fatigue mostly) but manageable.  No matter how this all turns out, I will always be so grateful for the prayers, encouragement, and support given by you all.
