...She hopes she does not have to see you again - at least not for professional  reasons.

Friday June 30th Mary and I returned to UW Medical Center for her 3 week post surgery check up, including meeting with her Surgeon Dr. Oyetunji.

Dr. Oyetunji and the nurse practitioner we met with were very pleased with Mary's progress.  We also got confirmation on some of the recovery timelines:

  • Mary needs to allow 3 more weeks (6 weeks from surgery) for the wound to heal.
  • At that point she can gently begin to get her range of motion back.
  • While 12 weeks is the general guideline before significant rotational movement - Mary can safely begin a few weeks sooner if she feels up to it.
  • She can begin driving herself on short trips in town (non freeway) at 5 weeks ( late next week) and freeway driving at 7 or 8 weeks.

Mary is taking daily walks with me or a friend of close to 3 miles roundtrip - with a rest at the mid-point (typically the Cafe at Picolinos restaurant - where a hazelnut croissant may be split...)

We celebrated the positive post op visit with lunch at Matt's in the Market and a bit of shopping at the vegetable stand.

Thank you to Leanne Kerrigan for  suggesting and setting up the Meal Train - and to all those that signed up - I know there were fewer slots then people interested in sharing a meal;  having some meals prepared for us has been terrific and as she feels stronger Mary is able to combine with a  visit on our deck in the recent beautiful weather.

Happy 4th of July - we are blessed to have such great support from Family and Friends.
