MaryLou ’s Story

Site created on January 14, 2021

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated about our mom. Mom had been complaining about stomach pain for quite a while but she didn't really think anything of it because she dealt with acid reflux for years. She noticed blood in her stool at the end of November so she went to the doctor, they scheduled a colonoscopy but didn't find anything. They decided to do an upper GI scope and that's when they found the tumor in her stomach. They did a biopsy but it took 2 weeks to get the results back. We found out it was cancer on December 22nd. She was scheduled to see an Oncologist on January 11th but on January 8th she started throwing up black blood so dad took her to the ER and they admitted her right away. She hasn't been able to eat much for several weeks and is quite thin. They are going to do 10 rounds of radiation and hopefully will be able to start chemo to shrink the tumor because it is too big to do surgery. We will update you when we know more. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

Journal entry by Gina Ayers-Boadwine

Mama went to be with Jesus at 1:05 p.m. today,  we were all by her side,  it was peaceful.  Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers❤
We are going to have a celebration of her life
sometime this spring.

  • 2 Corinthians 4:17-18
For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
