Newest Update

Journal entry by Denise Quiros

Time For An Update because everyone is asking.

We busted Mary out of the rehab facility on Sept 26th.  Many friends and family misinterpreted this as a sign that Mary was better.  Currently, we are still praying for this to happen.   Here’s the update.  Mary has severe back pain which is debilitating at this point.  She is able to sit up for usually 5 minutes in order to take medications, swallow some Boost, or have a small bite to eat. These simple tasks are exhausting and are only accomplished with great effort.  She is able to walk with assistance to the bathroom.  Other than that, the pain keeps her in a lying down position.   She is extremely weak.  The greater the pain, the less she wants to eat or move.  The less she eats or moves, the greater the pain.  Hence, the vicious cycle continues.   As of last week, Mary still was not able to have an adequate amount of sleep.  We visited a wonderful pain management doctor and he recommended a spine specialist. We started back on narcotics in hopes to relieve some pain and provide some rest for her extremely exhausted body.  She will receive a facet injection later this week.  Nani still enjoys visitors and we are thankful for each and every person who has stopped by.  We always knew Nani was special, but no one knew her body could withstand this much pain.  Her strength and courage amaze us all.  And can we all give a big shout out to Grandfather?  The love that Mary and Don share is beyond words.  I wish everyone could see how our dad takes care of his bride day and night.  He waits on her nonstop and has never complained.  His love and devotion is beautiful to witness.

PLEASE COME TO VISIT ANY DAY BETWEEN 10AM-6PM.  MARY WOULD LOVE TO SEE YOU.  IT IS FINE TO JUST SHOW UP.  WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THIS THURSDAY MORNING, SOMEONE IS ALWAYS AT THE HOUSE.
