As many of you may know, Maryjo was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015. She went through the full gamut of surgeries to attempt to remove all of the cancer. The surgery was followed up by 4 intense chemo infusions and 12 weeks of daily radiation treatment. She rang the bell and all was well. Fortunately, that worked and life would go on as normal and she would have a clear cancer screening moving forward, until 2017.
In 2017, Maryjo was not feeling well, having trouble breathing and running a low grade fever. Multiple tests were ran, and result was cancer has metastasized to her lung, and diagnosis is STAGE IV metastatic breast cancer. 2017 to 2020 the meds mama were taking were keeping the cancer at bay.
In 2020, a follow up scan showed that the nodule in her lung increased in size. Maryjo then did SBRT (Stereotatic Body Radiation Therapy). She rang the bell again upon finishing this treatment!
That brings us to where we are now. Due to Mets cancer, Maryjo was having scans every 6 months to ensure treatment was working and cancer was shrinking. Unfortunately, end of 2021 we learned the cancer metastasized to her liver. Maryjo began new treatment, it didn’t work, another treatment, it didn’t work, and most recently, she started a new aggressive regiment of chemo that began 11/11/22. She was able to complete another treatment on 11/18/22.
On 11/22/22 Maryjo had a tragic fall that resulted in an helicopter ride from Holy Family in Greenville to St Johns Springfield. The fall caused injuries to her, that, due to her current health condition, docs cannot perform surgery.
Maryjo (Mama) understood and did not take for granted her gift of life. As she shared so much with and for others, we need all her people to rally around her and pray for peace, comfort and love during this time. She has fought this evil cancer for 7 great years and deserves her dancing feet, her singing voice and has earned the right to get her wings!
