Journal

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last update. Mom has transitioned to a fantastic rehab facility, where she's receiving a powerhouse of therapy – three hours a day of physical, occupational, and speech therapy. When she's not actively working with therapists, she's diligently resting to allow her brain to heal.

We're still waiting for movement to return to her left side, but the rehab team is dedicated and pushing her every step of the way. Everything from eating and recalling information to simply sitting up and tracking movement to the left side is therapy here…things we take for granted. It's inspiring to see her determination!

We are so grateful to be here with the wonderful therapists and equipment to help mom. Physical therapy has included a machine that that helps her go through the walking movements while she is completely strapped into it. It’s aim is to help her brain recognize and make connections with her left arm and leg.

Her chewing and swallowing on her left side are getting stronger; She's graduated from pureed foods to soft and moist meals – a major victory in her world! Though, let's just say a juicy hamburger is definitely at the top of her culinary dream list.

One of the nurses perfectly captured Mom's spirit when she said, "she is just precious and someone who never quits." That's absolutely our Mom! She's the source of our resilience and fighting spirit, while both she and Dad have instilled a strong work ethic in Sidney and me. 💕💪🏾😅

We'd love your continued support! Please send good thoughts, positive vibes, and prayers for healing on Mom's left side. Her ultimate goal is to regain her independence…oh and that hamburger!🍔

We are so blessed and grateful for our Tia Yoya (mom’s sister) and our cousin, Patsy Page. They have been a tremendous help filling in when Sidney or I cannot be here - day and night! There is no way we could have done this without them. ❤️🙏🏽

We'll keep you updated on her progress. It’s going to be a long road, but we are ready. In the meantime, thank you for being with us on this journey!
