Mary Hannah’s Story

Site created on February 5, 2024

Many times, I’ve seen heading on CaringBridge to be “The Story”. I sit here with a gentle smile upon my face, as it would take pages upon pages within the creation of a novel to expand upon the beautiful story of Mary Hannah!

This thing called Cancer is NOT her story.

·        Her story is the loving daughter and sister who is always there to support, help and guide her family.

·        Her story is the mother who radiates unconditional love, wisdom, knowledge and kindness creating a joy-filled home giving her beautiful son the foundation and building blocks of a life filled with happiness and self-loving care.

·        Her story is being a guide, a teacher and creating leaders in every position she’s ever held in her career.

·        Her story is a giving heart volunteering to her community and numerous benefits around the globe because it is who she is.

·        Her story is countless friendships that span decades because once you’ve been blessed enough to know her, you can never let her go.

She is kind, giving, joyful and the most loving individual. She is the definition of unconditional love.

As many of you may know, two years ago, Mary Hannah was diagnosed with Stage One breast cancer and underwent surgery for a mastectomy and received rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Within a year, Mary Hannah with her friends and her family celebrated being cancer free.

As of last week, the ugly head of cancer surfaced again, diagnosing Mary Hannah with Stage Four metastasized breast cancer that has spread to her liver, lungs, spine, bones, lymph nodes and parts of her body.

Mary Hannah’s fight will be STRONG, it will be FIERCE, it will be MIGHTY and it will be backed by an endless count of friends and family that have been touched by her beautiful soul.

Mary Hannah is grateful for the wonderful support she has already received from friends and family. We understand that many will be looking for ways to help and we will be organizing more here on the website, more to come and this is a place to stay informed.

In the meantime, we appreciate your prayers, support, words of faith and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Renee Lura

Last weekend Mary Hannah found a blood clot in her neck, likely from her port and is now on blood thinners to resolve that. This did not stop the 12th treatment today and blood work was good so everything went forward as planned. Mary Hannah had another new visitor for chemo today, her cousin Patti is in town from Arizona. CA 15-3 was taken again today and again, lowered down to 48.5 (from 212 at the start). Getting very close to the 0-30 range!

Next step is PET scan on May 1st and results consult with oncologist May 8th so Mary Hannah will get a few weeks break until we know what happens next! As her body can use a break to heal and recover, it’s reminds me of spring time- with growth, buddings and blooms of nature showing the signs of resilience through the hard winter conditions. Personally, it’s reminds me of Mary Hannah and her strength, resilience and her spring of life with hope and optimism! Smell the flowers, breathe in the fresh air and rejoice in the spring of life today!!
