Journal entry by Mikaela Mostad —
Mom's bone marrow biopsy results from back in November at UC Health showed some "pathologic and serological evidence of relapsed disease" which means that her Plasma Cell Leukemia is still evident despite her bone marrow transplant. Since then, she has continued with chemotherapy treatment, many lab draws, and a series of scans. Her latest PET scan and lab work from January 31st shows that her cancer markers are elevated which means her Plasma Cell Leukemia has progressed. Not the news we were hoping for. Her Oncologist here at Billings Clinic is optimistic that a different combination of chemotherapy medications will have better results. Mom will begin her new treatment later on this week. Another bone marrow transplant may be in her future.
Please continue to pray for Mom as this has all been extremely overwhelming and emotionally draining. She is in good spirits as much as one can be after receiving this devastating news.
