Journal

This post, which I plan (and hope) will be my last, is delayed in coming. Mom has officially graduated to home. She is in great care with a live-in aide and multiple in-home nurse and physical, speech, and occupational therapy visits per week.

If you live on Seaview Ave, you will hopefully spy her on her daily walks with Lou or her aide or a friend, though right now, you’ll need to look quick because they don’t encompass much of the street yet.

We are thrilled to have her back in her own environment and have been very happy with the care she is receiving. She continues to love and greatly appreciate visitors, though does tire easily and we can’t always predict when one of her healthcare providers will be on site working with her. Please continue to feel free stopping by to say hello.

Thank you all so very much for the love and support and well wishes that sustained us all during the past four months.

We were told over and over by her providers that she is, by far, beating the odds, achieving more than they honestly expected, and has been a source of inspiration and joy.

I am now back in Washington to pick up where I let things drop on April 25. I feel beyond blessed that I was able to spend the summer with her and Lou and see so much of my family.

My deepest wish for all of you is that you also get to spend more time with Mary. She continues to be a joy to love and care for (well, except that one week when she got her liquids thickened. THAT wasn’t fun…but it also marked her recovery turning point!) and she will be working hard at 324 Seaview in the next year to recover as much of her strength, cognitive endurance and left arm functionality as she can.

Thank you again for all your love,
Jenny
