A Life Well Lived

Mary Ann Kohnke was born on July 19, 1957 and passed away on December 29th, 2023 following a battle with MDS  (blood borne cancer). She grew up in Upstate New York where she attended Liverpool High School as well as Rochester Institute of Technology.   She lived in New York, Steamboat Springs Colorado, Portland Oregon, Boise, Idaho, Alaska and finally found as well as made her beloved home here at Hawthorne.  She was an accomplished photographer, flower arranger, event organizer and an amazing care giver up until the time it became her turn.  She so cherished all of the wonderful friends she had made in the Hawthorne community.  The parades, the dances, the socials all played such a giant role in the life she so loved.  Thank you everyone for the outpouring of stories that so enriched her and our lives here in this incredibly caring community.  She always had such a bright smile, a great sense of humor and her kindness and compassion radiated as bright as the sun.  Her many friends and family from near and far will always remember her as someone who will always make us smile with a level of compassion and kindness that was truly her to her very core.  Her favorite saying was “One day at a time” which has always emphasized the importance of living every day as a gift.  May she Rest In Peace,  Love Always
