Mary Ann (Ingram) Halsey, beloved and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, left this earth peacefully on May 30, 2018.

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, B.R. “Bill” Halsey; her parents, James Ellis and Doris Brown (Martin) Ingram of Marion VA; and her grandson, Jerred Steven Halsey of Chesterton IN. She is survived by: her sister, Iris Faye (Ingram) Goodman of Lenoir City TN, and brother, James Sherrill (Jeanne) Ingram; her children, Teresa Ann (Bill) Weisenburger of Triangle VA, Bryan Rogers (Carol) Halsey of Marion VA, Philip Wayne (Cindy) Halsey of Keller TX, Warren Jackson (Beverly) Halsey of Wyomissing PA, and Laura Elizabeth (Jeffrey) Bradley of Pittsburgh PA; her grandchildren, Breanne Halsey Weisenburger (Byron) Adkins of DeRidder LA, William David (Amy) Weisenburger III of Kents Store VA, Rebekah Carol Halsey of Marion VA; Leah Elizabeth Halsey (Stephen) Horrigan of Danville IN; Benjamin Rogers Halsey of Indianapolis IN; Amy Elizabeth Halsey (Stephen) Simcox of Dallas TX; Shelby Lynn Halsey of Houston TX; Audrey Amelia Halsey and William Ellis Halsey of Wyomissing PA; and four great grandchildren, Valerie Alice Adkins and Thomas Jackson Adkins of Deridder LA, and Cole Alan Weisenburger and William David Weisenburger IV of Kents Store VA. Mary Ann will also be sorely missed by her 4-legged companion, Maxi the Cat.

Mary Ann was born in Bassett VA, and raised in and around Marion VA. She met Bill in their high school years in Marion, and she and Bill married as she finished nursing school in Roanoke VA at the age of 20. Mary Ann enjoyed raising her five children and supporting Bill in his career with US Steel, as well as their numerous moves around the country. She especially enjoyed Bill’s retirement and their move to Corrales NM, where they were able to fully embrace their love of New Mexico and the Native American culture. They did this through serving as international visitor hosts, docents at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center, life-long learning instructors, and other personal volunteer work with their Native American craftsmen/women, helping them run more effective business of their trades.

Much like her husband, Mary Ann will be remembered for many things: her strong devotion to her family; her quick wit and laughter; her loyalty to Virginia Tech and Pittsburgh Steelers football; her love of hummingbirds; and the enjoyment she got from visiting with family and friends.

A donation to a charitable organization of your choice would be preferred in lieu of flowers.
