Hello! 

It has been intense on the home front as I recover from my double mastectomy.

The surgery was successful! I was under the knife for about 6 1/2 hours. It was a relief to wake up with no complications.  We are so grateful. 

There is some sad news. The surgeon found that the cancer had spread further than anticipated.  Although the double mastectomy was successful, there is still remaining cancer in the upper regions of my chest. They call this ‘Positive Margin’ - when the surgeon finds cancer cells at the edge of the tissue, suggesting that not all of the cancer has been removed. 

I start Radiation treatment next week on April 25th. I will undergo treatment for 5 weeks. I will have to undergo a higher dosage of radiation due to the Positive Margins. There are a good deal of risks, so we are mentally preparing for the next phase of treatment. 

I am in good hands, recovering with my family. I am so grateful for my husband Tylers support. To my parents, who provided a nurturing environment for my recovery. To those who have brought meals - those who are following on this journey and sending their love. To you, the reader, I am grateful. 

Amidst the pains of cancer our family has experienced a beautiful time of focusing on one another. There is something about a terminal diagnosis that reminds you of what’s important and taking time to rest with loved ones. 

I will keep you updated as we enter into the next phase of radiation! Let’s kick Cancers ass ;)
