Journal entry by Michaela Martell —
an overdue update. Tim’s new kidney is slowly waking up! I wish the update was “labs are perfect”, but real life it’s “labs continue to be a little up and down, but seem to be leveling out”. we have so many questions about where the kidney function will settle, but we are learning that the answers will come with time and nothing else. positive things: labs/kidney function is still much better than prior to transplant, Tim is tolerating his new immunosuppression medication regimen well, Tim is moving around well and otherwise “healthy”. and best of all, he’s here with us. walking outside, laughing, playing with the kids, watching loons on the dock like the old man he deserves to someday become. this has been more challenging and emotional than we anticipated, but we can do hard things. and there’s still so much good to carry us through.
