Journal entry by Marsha Bennett —
So I heard my heartbeat this morning....it was during an echocardiogram which is among all the tests that have been done in preparation for what's to come.
I watched my heart on the screen as the technician moved the ultrasound over my chest, watched the ventricles and aorta open close with their funny little flap and then I heard my heartbeat. It sounded so strong and this feeling of immense gratitude for my heart came through me, we don't really consider the daily functioning of it, it is just something that gets us through our day without thinking it into motion. I had pushed mine so hard and it still has so much strength, I offered up a little apology to it and thanked it for keeping me going.
