Mark’s Story

Site created on September 15, 2018

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.

On 9/12/18 Mark was in a serious accident with his truck, and he was airlifted to St. Vincent hospital in Green Bay, where he is currently recovering in ICU.  He has a hematoma on the left side of his head, which is healing well.  Additionally all CT scans have been negative for complications of the brain and neck.  His left leg has a tibia and fibula fracture, and his left ankle was shattered.  The left heel endured a degloving and fracture, and he also fractured several toes.  He has a right navicular fracture (which is a fracture in the middle of his foot).  Both legs are currently splinted with a wound vac draining his left ankle.  He has a closed disruption of the right hip, that they are monitoring, and may possibly need surgery for in the future.  When awake, Mark is alert and can hear, speak, and see normally.  He is very tired and needs much rest at this time.

We appreciate all the love and support from family and friends during this difficult time.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Holly Wyro

Merry Christmas to you all🌲!  We hope you enjoyed time with your families, we surely did this year!  I just wanted to send an update on Mark as people have been asking!  He continues with outpatient physical therapy multiple times per week, working hard & making strides.   It is painful for therapy but it's paying off because he is walking with crutches for short distances with both feet now.   It's been a challenge though to get that left foot to move like it's supposed to & it will take time.  The wound is still there but progressing very well!  Mark is greatful for being able to stand, walk & less sitting!  3 months in the wheelchair all the time was taking a toll!  He is motivated to improve & his mood is good!  So many blessings!  Thank you all for continued prayers, they are truly helping & we feel the strength from that!  God bless you!  Happy New Year to you all!
