Newest Update

Journal entry by Joanna Rice

As I sit here typing a quick update, I am overwhelmed by just how much there is to be thankful for this year. Mark is assembling the Christmas trees and quite honestly, earlier this year, neither of us thought he would be here to do that. We have both had tears streaming down our faces today as we reflected on how long and very hard this year has been. Thank you, every single one, who has prayed for us throughout this year. We know it is literally by the grace of God that Mark is still here with us. There is so much that has gone back to "normal" and yet we still have those moments of symptoms to remind us that there is still a battle to fight, and fight we will! We are so very full of gratitude for how you have all upheld us throughout this journey. Thank you!

Stability in Mark's scans and managed symptoms have helped us all so much! And with that, comes the next plot twist in our journey. After a sudden increase in pain and symptoms over the last several months, I will be having surgery next week. The doctors did a biopsy and there is NO SIGN of cancer, PRAISE GOD!! But... it is clear the time has come for me to have a hysterectomy. It is outpatient and pretty straightforward, but it is major surgery and will have quite the recovery period. Would you pray with us over the procedure itself as well the recovery time? Mark will be taking on the household things while I am out of commission. The kids are struggling with the idea as the only experience they have had with surgery has been for dad's cancer... We again, have so much gratitude for the Lord's perfect timing in all this. Mark is doing well and stable! HE IS STILL HERE!!! He is able to step in and care for me and the kids while I recover. Our meal train has been set up again to help ease some of that, and if you are interested, you can find it here.

We are so thankful for the people God has given us! You are part of that. THANK YOU!!! We have people step in to offer all sorts of help and love in a variety of ways. Thank you!!! From the depths of our hearts...

THANK YOU!!!
