Mark’s Story

Site created on May 9, 2023

Hello everyone,
As many of you may know, we lost our family home to a devastating house fire last Saturday night. Thankfully, Mark and Cheryl were able to escape the house thanks to the quick actions and help from a neighbor who knocked on the door to get them out in time. Unfortunately, everything inside the house was lost, including our beloved family dog of over 10 years, Archie.
We’ve created this page as a way to organize some community support efforts, and also to update those who are concerned about our family.
Once Mark is discharged from the hospital, we would like to set up a Meal Train to help assist with meals for Mark and Cheryl while they are settling into a temporary home. There will be more details on that in the coming weeks.
We are so very blessed for your outpouring of love and concern. We are thankful to you and our hearts are full and your prayers are appreciated.

We are so blessed with family, friends, neighbors coworkers.   We have been blown away with the outpouring of love and kindness and generosity.   Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.   Words seem so inadequate to express the gratitude we have for all you and your thoughtfulness.  The gifts, cards, visits and so many kindnesses will be forever treasured from you.   From the night of the fire through the hospital and recovery time we have been truly blessed by your care and concern.    We continue to heal from the emotional loss and trauma.   Mark is physically recovering so well.  Doctors say they can't believe his progress with the skin cell treatments and grafts.    He only has follow-up's scheduled for all the various doctors appointments and can basically function as he was before the fire.  He still wears compression garments and head cover.    Currently we are renting a house while we begin to rebuild our home on our current lot.   Again we feel so blessed that God has paved a way for this to happen and look forward to being back in the neighborhood.   We are continuing to pray for a fresh start as demo begins on the property hopefully this week.   We anticipate being back in the neighborhood next year.   Again we are eternally grateful to you, we are so humbled by your expression of care.
