Marie Bernadette Johannes (Feliks), age 77, of Parker, CO passed away on February 19, 2024. The daughter of Ann (Glaz) and Casimir Feliks, she was born on September 21, 1946, in Dearborn, Michigan where she spent her childhood. Marie married Robert (Bob) Johannes her husband of almost 56 years on June 14, 1968.

From 1964 to 1968 Marie attended Michigan State University, where she obtained her Interior Design Bachelor of Arts degree. Two highlights from Marie’s time at Michigan State are her life as a Tri Delt sorority sister and meeting her future husband, Bob, on her 21st birthday at East Lansing’s Coral Gables.

A member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID), Marie established her own Interior Design business, Interior Design Associates. She was passionate about her extended family, Plein Air landscape painting, golf, skiing, gardening, traveling, real estate, quilting, and reading. Marie and Bob spent many happy years in Syracuse, New York and Birmingham, Michigan with the final 20 years of her life in Fraser, Colorado.

Wherever Marie lived, she sought the company of others with similar interests—willingly sharing her talents as well as honing her skills aided by the expertise of others. In that regard, she was a founding member and first President of the Metropolitan Detroit Polymer Art Guild (MDPAG).  Upon relocating to Fraser, Colorado, Marie joined many community groups in pursuit of her passions. She also invested her time and energy in her local community as a member of the Fraser River Valley Lions Club for 20 years until her passing.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Johannes; her daughter Rexanne Emigh (Johannes), son in law Lance Emigh, grandson Leo Emigh, and granddaughter Maxinne Emigh all of Corona, California; brother-in-law William Johannes of Tucson, Arizona; sister-in-law Patricia Hoffman (Johannes) and brother-in-law Richard Hoffman of Westminster, Colorado; sister-in-law Sara Nesbitt (Johannes) and brother-in-law Jack Nesbitt of Saint Joseph, Michigan; sister-in-law Nola Feliks (Kinchen), nephew Eric Feliks and wife Margaret all of Northville, Michigan; niece Michelle Endres (Feliks) of Gulfport, Florida; niece Rachel M. Walaskay of Salem, Oregon; and many more cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her mother Ann Feliks (Glaz), her father Casimir Feliks, her brother Robert Feliks, and her sister Maxine Glaz-Plummer (Feliks).

The family is planning a memorial service in Fraser, Colorado after the snow melts and the flowers bloom this spring/summer. The details will be available at a later date.

Marie would want those wishing to honor her memory to do so in a manner of their choosing to support the arts education programs, institutes, galleries, and activities of local artisans in their area.
