Journal

Not sure if anyone is reading this anymore, but just in case.  Update follows.
I am having a terrible time with fatigue.  It's normal after a stroke,so I am told.  I was sure it had something to do with the second statin I was taking, rusovastatin, a generic of Crestor.  It's listed as a side effect.  Stopped taking it and am now on a third med, simvasatin.  We'll see about this one.  How many different ways can a drug that lowers cholesterol be made?  I bet  they are all pretty much the same. However, there are a few more I can try if this one has a bad side effect.
PCP told me that fatigue can last for months. and t will be six months before I feel anywhere near  the way I used to feel.  Two months down.  I have stopped going to the Y pool, but I think I'll push myself to start that again.  I don't move my body much at all.  PCP said walk every day 10 minutes morning, noon and night.  I should be able to manage that.
PT has discharged me.  Now it is up to me, of course.
Eye doctor appointment isn't for another two weeks.  Hard to believe doctors are so booked up.  The neurology practice set up an appointment in February for a follow up with their stroke specialist!!!  He had nothing earlier.  Unbelievable.
My numbers obtained from lab work show  improvement.  Thank goodness.
I am wearing an event heart monitor.  The most common cause for a stroke in women my age is atrial fibrillation.  First step is to find out if I have it.  This monitor records randomly throughout the day, six minutes only, but I have to wear it all the time.  Every day I must send the recording over a land line and then reset the monitor.  Change the electrodes every day and simply throw out the old ones.  I hate waste, and my feeling about this gets worse as I age.
I have been eating oatmeal every morning.  Should help, right? and only one cup of coffee.
I don't think there is anything else to report.  Fatigue is the problem.
Hope all of you are well.
Maria
