Journal entry by Andria Miller

Wow! I am in disbelief that it's been one whole year since dad went into the hospital fighting for his life.  As we are coming up on Thanksgiving this month, our whole family is so grateful that God gave us our dad back. We've been blessed to have gotten to spend more time with our beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, cousin etc. The grandkids got to get back to the farm for more exploring and more Roxor rides.

If you ask dad he will tell you, he's still not 100% himself, but he's here and he's alive and he is so very grateful for that. I definitely think it helped him put things is perspective. (Not just him but our whole family.)

I can tell he thinks about retiring maybe a little sooner and spending more precious time with family. As he knows things can turn in an instant and it all could be taken away.

We got dad tickets to Luke Combs for Father's Day and although he was definitely intimidated to go he went anyway. He said he's not going to live in a hole his whole life because of covid.

Dad tells me that his strength still isn't what it used to be ( its hard to tighten a bolt and his muscles at times feel like they are on fire.) He also still gets a little winded, and sounds a little raspy at times due to the ventilator and the trach he had to have to get off of it.

I can tell big crowds make dad a little nervous and he definitely can have some anxiousness due to all he's been through. If anyone runs into him, please realize this and that he's still not 100%. If he doesn't go somewhere or declines an invite to an event, it's not personal.  He's just trying to do what he feels is right.

Thank you all again for helping our whole family through those tough months. And to the neighbors and friends still helping my dad when he needs it, We all see you and appreciate it more than you know. 🙏🙏💙💙
