Well, it was a year ago today, as Talin celebrated her 50th birthday, that everything seemed to fall apart for us. The nurses brought her cupcakes to my room and sang “happy birthday.” They did this because my condition was rapidly falling apart…at this point I was sleeping all day and totally unaware of everything going on around me. This evening is when I started answering all questions with “Marc McBride!” “What’s the date? Who is the President? How old are you?”…”Marc McBride.” Hey, at least I got to be President :). Wish I could say I was being a jackass, but I was in some serious trouble. So, that was Talin’s birthday experience last year :(. She truly did not know if I would make it to properly celebrate her 51st.
I’m happy to say that her birthday today is much better - surrounded by family!!!
Days like this remind me how incredibly lucky we are, especially me. I’m truly grateful for all that we have in our lives, especially the amazing people. I’m forever grateful for Talin! I was fortunate enough to marry my best friend and then experience with her the growth of that friendship, and the absolutely wonderful life that has become of our friendship and dedication to one another.
I want to wish Talin the best birthday ever. This one today will definitely be better than last year’s :)
