My multiple myeloma was diagnosed in August of 2018, it is treatable, BUT NOT CURABLE. Overall I have felt fine for the last 5 years....even now. I've undergone numerous treatment plans, including a stem cell transplant in October 2020. I was in remission for approximately 2 years. On December 28th the cancer reared its ugly head again. Coincidentally my oncologist who I trust 100% and love with all my heart left the group I was being treated with, Other than managing treatment I unfortunately also am recovering from a fall at home that occurred in April resulting in a broken nose, split lip, and C6 fracture both in the front and back. This has resulted in me having to wear a neck brace (FOR 12 WEEKS) and made it so that I cannot drive. I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful friends and family members who have been supporting me during this time. Again, despite the neck brace and the healing wounds I have felt overall fine and have tried to remain my normal active self. However, in early May my labs (cell counts and cancer measurements) have become very concerning. The past few weeks I have gone to Mercy Hospital for multiple transfusions to try to replace platelets and increase my hemoglobin; however, despite these numerous transfusions we've been unable to make any improvements. After returning to my [previous oncologist, my Godsent, we developed a care plan to tackle the most recent bone marrow biopsy results. Unfortunately, this plan involves me at Mercy receiving 24 hour chemotherapy but fortunately I get to remain under his care. I am currently hospitalized, attached to multiple IVs and receiving 4 chemo drugs for my multiple myeloma. I remain optimistic and ready to accept and humble enough to ask for any and all prayers. I believe in the power of prayer and praying is more than I can ask for and the greatest gift everyone can give me.
