Marchea’s Story

Site created on January 24, 2024

Hello all this is Gwen Johnson - Marchea’s niece. I am helping keep this site up to date when possible. This all began last year as Marchea had been having some health issues beginning in November of 2023. She’s been in and out of the hospital several times. In her latest trip she had her gall bladder removed and while they were in there, they biopsied 2 lobes of her liver. After she arrived home from the hospital, she tried to recover but was dealing with extreme fatigue. The Doctor called this week with some concerning news. Marchea was tentatively diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. The Dr said the treatment would be aggressive and would start immediately. The next day (yesterday)she was admitted to KU MED. She is on the cancer floor where they take every precaution. Masks must be worn and hands washed before entering. She has had countless tests, blood draws, biopsies, lumbar punctures, visits from every medical team in the unit. They have not yet confirmed the type of cancer it is just yet. She will find out in the next day or so and will immediately begin IV chemo. This is treatable and we know our girl will fight with all she has!  Cancer doesn’t have a chance against her!  Know that if you have called/texted/messaged her - she has gotten it. Due to her days being quite busy right now, she does not have a lot of time to respond.  Please know she has gotten your messages and appreciates all of the love and support. She especially asks for prayers. So if you’re the praying type-please send some up on her behalf. Thank you for your concern and care.  Feel free to share this site with anyone who loves Marchea. We will update when there is new news. ❤️

Newest Update

Journal entry by Marchea Jennings

Well folks you won’t believe it!  Marchea got another bone marrow biopsy last week and had a meeting with the Dr today. SHE IS IN REMISSION!!!!!  We knew she was strong - but turns out she’s superwoman!!!! She has been feeling great!  She has no real side effects from the chemo aside from the hair loss, but even with that she looks amazing!  She will be admitted to the hospital on Monday (2/26) to receive a VERY strong chemo - to make sure it’s all out of there. She will also receive an antidote to remedy any side effects that this mean chemo could give. She will stay in the hospital for 3-5 days. Beyond that, next steps are unknown as she is a marvel!!!  Your prayers have worked!  Her positive attitude has worked!  She feels all of the love!  God really is good!  We will update when more information is available. Now we will sit and enjoy this amazing news!  Thank you for your thoughts and prayers!  ❤️Gwen
