Chris’s Story

Site created on October 6, 2023

On May 29th, 2023, Chris and her daughter, Molly were traveling home from Cloquet, MN when Molly told Chris that her eyes looked yellow.  Molly thought nothing of this -- she was just giving her mom flack. Chris however, knew this was not normal. The following week she went to the clinic to have tests ran and a CT scan informed her that she had a 2cm tumor on her pancreas. On June 8th, she was told she has Stage 1 Pancreatic Cancer. Chris had her first round of chemo on June 25th.  She went through the summer doing rounds of chemo every two weeks. In between rounds 5 and 6, her loving husband, Jeff, passed away unexpectedly. She completed 6 rounds of chemo, had another CT scan and learned the tumor had shrunk from 2cm to 1.2cm. She was eligible to have a Whipple Procedure to remove the tumor!

On January 5th, 2024, Chris learned that her cancer had returned and spread into her liver. The prognosis without treatment was very poor, so she decided to do treatment as long as she could.
