Journal entry by Ayn Generes —
Maria Lourdes (Malou) Ramos Generes of Conroe, TX, passed away at the age of 48 on October 6, surrounded by her family, after a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer. Always with a beautiful smile, Malou was a fun-loving, care-free person who had so much energy for any adventure, especially “food-trips”!
Malou was born in Manila, Philippines where she attended Colegio de Sta. Catalina de Sena and received a BS in Nursing from Trinity College of Quezon City - St. Luke's College of Nursing. She started her nursing career in the Philippines before her biggest adventure immigrating to the United States. Malou touched countless lives and made many lifelong friends through her twenty-five-year career in nursing, from Natchez, MS to New Orleans, LA (Touro Infirmary Hospital) to Houston, TX (St. Luke’s, Houston Northwest Medical Center, and Kindred).
In 2002, Malou met her husband Rick in New Orleans where they started their family before evacuating to Houston following Hurricane Katrina in 2005. She had an abundance of love for her three children and cared deeply in raising them to be strong and independent like she was. Malou’s passion for cooking included preparing the perfect bento lunch boxes for her children’s school lunch and delicious Filipino dishes (her specialties: lumpiang shanghai, pancit, and adobo manok). Her other passions included traveling, reading, bargain hunting, watching Chinese dramas, and collecting Polish pottery. She had a contagious zest for life that a cancer diagnosis in 2016 could not crush. Her family has immense gratitude to the nurses, staff, and doctors at MD Anderson Cancer Center for their wonderful care.
Preceded in death by her nephew Josh Ramos, and father-in-law, Robert Generes Sr. Survived by her husband Robert (Rick) Generes Jr., three beautiful children Nadia, Elizabeth, and Robert, parents Clarito and Virginia (Jauregui) Ramos, siblings Teresa, Victoria, and Noel (Emma), mother-in-law Cathy (Frank) LaGaccia, sisters-in-law Corinne (Houston) and Ayn (Janan), and five nephews and one niece.
Malou’s celebration of life memorial viewing will be held on Friday, October 12 from 5-8pm and service on Saturday, October 13 at 11am at Magnolia Funeral Home (811 Magnolia Blvd, Magnolia, TX 77355). https://www.magnoliafunerals.com/obituaries/Maria-Ramos-18/#!/Obituary
