Newest Update

Journal entry by Maggy Mrosla

Wow- ten days have already passed?  I’ve been a bit lazy about updating this mostly because I imagine nobody is checking this anymore and many of my friends are seeing me alive and well on FB and Instagram.  But just in case… here is the latest update.

Last Monday or Tuesday I was able to get in with my infectious disease doctor who thought everything was looking really good.  We scheduled an appointment for that evening to have my PICC line removed.  That was awesome.  Then Friday I had the last of my 55 staples removed.  My elbow is still a bit bruised, red and tender but I think it’s healing ok.  It’s hard to imagine it ever being normal again.  I imagine it will feel tight and maybe not have the same sensation it used to.  I still can’t quite do a push-up but I’ll try again tomorrow.

Today, Andrew and I got out for a nice walk with Audley on maybe a 2 mile hike.  There’s a bit of a hill at the end and I had no trouble.  The next test will be if I can run my three mile loop again.  I may try that by Friday.  I’m hoping to exercise a bit every day while Dawson is at school this week just to get my energy up because I think I’m going back to work on Monday.  Andrew goes back to work this week and if I can survive single parenting for those two days then I can surely return to work.

Last weekend we celebrated Dawson’s 6th birthday with a dozen friends and lots of legos.  He had a great time.  I finally allowed Grandma to come up from Olympia— I didn’t want her catching Covid or Strep from our household prior to that.  I think she will sleep a bit better at night now knowing I’m ok.  Aunt Jenny came up with her and that always gets Dawson excited.  It was nice to spend some time together.  We are already making plans for the summer now that I have the range of motion to paddle a kayak again.

I have my last follow-up Feb 8th.  I think I’ll make that my final post here.
Take care of yourselves and your loved ones!  Goodnight!
