Maggie’s Story

Site created on January 14, 2019

Thanks to all of you for caring so much about Maggie. Rather than trying to send messages all over the place, I thought I'd set this up to post regular updates on Maggie's heart transplant progress.  -  Tom

Newest Update

Journal entry by Tom Denari

I wanted to give all of you a little update as an excuse to let you know that Maggie's birthday is on Friday (October 4th). I'm trying to make the day as special as possible for her, and think it would be great if her "fans" sent her a card or an email (maggiedenari@me.com) on Friday.

(Don't worry, I've secretly removed her notifications on CaringBridge.com, so she won't see this post or any comments assigned to it.)

Maggie has been working hard to get stronger, doing cardiac rehab three days a week, which consists of alternating walking and jogging on a treadmill, stationary bike and rowing machine. About a month ago, she even participated in a 5k run/walk that she completed in about 40 minutes. She'd likely do it in no more than 35 minutes today.

And, if that isn't enough, yesterday she insisted on trimming and mowing the yard. Seriously. While you might think it's odd that she'd want to, Maggie is excited to be able to be so active and able to do normal activities. And, she's looking forward to a time when her transplant isn't the headline story of her life. Soooo...hopefully, she won't be annoyed by this post.

Maggie is in such a completely different place compared to her birthday a year ago, and we're grateful that she's doing so well, and for all of your support throughout the year.

Take care,

Tom
