Maggie’s Story

Site created on June 1, 2023

Back in October, 2022 Maggie started experiencing ringing in her ear, knowing that something wasn’t right she pushed and in March of this year they finally gave her an MRI and determined that she had a 3 CM Meningioma tumor in the back of her brain.    Thankfully she found out that it was non-cancerous but because it was already causing her issues the doctor advised them that it should be removed ASAP.
On May 3rd Maggie had the 7 1/2 hour long surgery at
Abbott hospital.   She did great and the doctor was very happy with it and was able to keep all her nerves in tact.  There  was a few side affects from the surgery which are facial
paralysis, trouble swallowing, numb and tingling on her right side of the body and loss of hearing in one ear.  Maggie was in the ICU for two weeks and has now been in a regular room for the last three weeks.    She has a feeding tube in her stomach which is the only way she is getting food right now.  She has remained at the hospital and has been receiving OT, PT and speech therapy on a daily basis and has really been doing amazing.  She is truly the strongest person I know.

We are so happy to announce that she will finally be breaking out of that place on June 6th!!

I apologize for the delay on getting this out but we really want to say a huge thank you to all the family, friends, neighbors, sports families and all of the hospital staff for everything, you guys are wonderful and Maggie appreciates it more than you know!!

Neil, you are an incredible husband and have not left her side throughout the last month.  The  love and support that you show Maggie is absolutely amazing, you are a blessing!  Ella, Kayla and Chase have been so strong for their mom and dad during this time and are so excited to have her home in two days.

I will continue to update everyone on her progress!!

Thanks Molly

Happy Spring everyone!

Time for a Maggie update.

The Brokl familySpring break vacation in Cancun started with a call from Maggie’s medical clinic back home. The negative rapid strep test, after being cultured, turned positive!! She was feeling  pretty miserable for most of the week, but managed to get a pretty nice tan anyway😷🤒🤭!!!

Maggie  was due for a follow up MRI which was done on Wed. This was done to check to see if there was any new tumor growth on her brain. GREAT NEWS!! NO NEW GROWTH!! She did get to see the titanium mesh and screws that were holding her skull together and brain protected.

Her voice remains strong since her last vocal cord filler was administered.

She continues to grow stronger and keeping busy with family activities including Ella’s upcoming high school graduation.

we are grateful for your continued prayers and ❤️.
