We wanted to reach out and say thank you all so so so much for all those who donated to Maeve's "Feed My Doctors" gofund me! You ALL ROCK! Because of you we were able to raise over $2,000 dollars and feed 210 ICU doctors, nurses, and staff at Luries! All of your kindness and charity has been overwhelming and from the bottom of our hearts thank you. We had so many nurses reach out to us personally and say thank you! They also sent us pictures of the team enjoying some portillos! It warmed our hearts to know that something small could make some of these heroes smile during this scary time. They deserve so much more than a hotdog for all that they do, but we are happy we could at least provide that and some cake to brighten their day! We will be sending out thank yous next week!

I also wanted to share some other great news with all of you that feels very serendipitous! When you become a parent of a medically complex child you find yourself interacting with other families who are in the same boat. One family we have met along this journey has a little girl named Livi. Livi's family is amazing and they even created a non-for profit that helps other families from Luries with care coordination. Unfortunately, Livi's heart started to fail last fall and she was listed for a heart transplant in October. There were many ups and downs for their family during this time with viruses, an almost match, and then a pandemic! Yesterday, Livi's family got the call they've been waiting for, there was a match! Livi's heart transplant surgery was yesterday and she is  back recovering in the CCU! We felt it was fate that the day we chose to say thank you to the doctors and nurses on that floor was also the day this amazing warrior got her new heart!

I do feel it is important to point out that one major obstacle had been completed for their family, but they still face a long road ahead. Receiving a heart transplant is dangerous and complicated. There is always a chance the body will reject donor heart at any time and Livi will need careful monitoring for a lifetime. That being said, moments like these indicate that miracles can and do happen! We are so happy for Livi and her family! We also pray and mourn the loss of the family that had to give this gift.

Again, Thank you all for helping us! We hope you are all staying safe!
